Show Us Your Wedding!

Asking me to show you pictures from our wedding is like asking a grandma to see pictures of her grand kids...OF COURSE I'll show you!!!

This week Kelly's Korner is doing Show Us Your Life: Wedding flowers/Ceremony/Wedding Party.  After dating for nearly 7 years and being apart for a year and a half before the wedding, we were some seriously excited folks on August 5, 2006!

I love our pictures with a mighty passion.  I mainly love our pictures because I looked nothing like I do in normal life!  They turned out so great and  truly reflected the emotions of that special day.  I am in love with our photographers.  We used Artography in Birmingham, AL and they were awesome.  We used them for bridal, engagement, and wedding pictures.

There was NO way that I could only pick a few to share so I had to show a bunch.  With our anniversary right around the corner, it was nice to sit and go through our pictures.  It truly was one of the top, top days in our lives!

We truly had a wonderful day even though it was August in Alabama!  Hot!  Basically, I refused to go outside for pictures.   We handmade some of the details and I planned nearly everything with help from our moms and while finishing up my nursing degree!  I hope you enjoy!

Check out my handsome groom!

We did take pictures together first.  That was a hard decision to make, but I'm glad we did.  I wouldn't have wanted to take all that time after the ceremony to take pictures.  We had some "us" time as we took our pictures in the little chapel.

We were married in the church that I grew up in for a few years, and my parents go there now.

Jordan with his family

Me with my family; we clean up quite nice

Me with the moms!

My bridesmaids consisted of childhood friends and my Alpha Gam Big Sis!  The girls wore pale, pale pink two piece dresses with a scoop neck and pearls.  So classic, I think!

Here's all the attendants!  Jordan's groomsmen consisted of my brothers and his childhood friends, also!  I honestly cannot remember if the groomsmen wore tails on their tuxes or not!

After we took pictures we chilled out and got ready for the ceremony!

Our ceremony was beautiful by candlelight.  We used the organ, a soloist, and a trumpeteer and that was it! Oh yeah, and our favorite pastor!

I honestly didn't cry until we hit that prayer bench for  "The Lord's Prayer".  Luckily, my Matron of Honor instinctively knew and handed me a tissue!  Jordan and I both cried while we were kneeling.

Here we are immediately after!

I hope you've enjoyed!  See ya next week for the reception...the really fun part!

Birthday Day!

Today is my sweet hubby's birthday!  I still can't believe the years are flying by so quickly!  I feel so lucky and blessed to have him as a husband, a father to John Michael, and also a great friend.

He means the world to me and I sometimes don't know exactly where I'd be or even who I might be today if I didn't have him in my life.  I am truly a blessed person.  God has been so good to me to point me in the right direction of finding Jordan all those years ago in high school.  Who would have thought....

Happy Birthday, Baby!  I love you and I hope you have a fantastic day!

Monkey See, Monkey Do!

So what do you do when you're nearly 15 months old and you've watched your mom and dad feed the dog a few times a day for well over a year?!  If you're John Michael you gingerly walk over to the pantry, open the door, grab out a bag of fake sugar (that's actually right next to Jack's food bag) and go and put "food" in Jack's bowl for him.

I'm still so amazed that he can mimic so much of what we do.  I thought he'd be doing things like this closer to two years old.  Monkey see, Monkey do!

Pouring the food just like Mom and Dad!

Hey, this isn't dog food!

We're supposed to have thunderstorms all week, so I'm afraid we're going to be extra bored!  Today we went to Wal-Mart and JM played in his room while I cleaned out his toys and drawers and got rid of the "little baby" things and prepared to send them across the hall to the nursery-in-the -works!  Slowly but surely we will get that ugly office turned into a baby's room!  Have a good week!

Lately...

Not too much has been going on with us lately.  We're getting back into our routine of not having John Michael spoiled by grandparents being around him for weeks in a row!  I think he's doing just fine!

Lately I still haven't been wanting to eat lunch or dinner or both.  Some days I'll feel like lunch and just cereal for dinner.  I can always eat a BIG breakfast, and I usually do!  I'm not nauseated or anything, it's just that not a lot sounds good.  Unfortunately, I could always eat something sweet like an oatmeal cream pie for instance.  Eh, not good!

Lately, John Michael has been copying most everything we do.  If Daddy wipes his hands together after dinner, JM does too.  He can mimic "thank you" and he learned to say "ne-na" for Aunt Janna and he also learned "uh-oh!"

Lately we had a quick visit with Grams and Aunt Janna when they brought us back home from our little staycation in Alabama!  Here's JM and Grams doing his favorite activity: looking online for Little Einsteins videos!

Lately I have had to rethink my priorities about nursery #2.  My fabric that I picked out can no longer be found.  So frustrating!  I had already tested a spot of yellow and picked out the fabrics and paint!  I can't find anything else that I like that's gender-neutral.  I'm probably going to be using John Michael's sage green toille and either add pink for a girl or khaki and white for a boy.

We're currently working on John Michael's new big-boy bedroom so I'll be ditching the toille just in time to re-use it for baby #2!

I'm just in love with this jungle fabric!  Oh well.

Lately we've been to the park since it was, oh 75 degrees outside!  Of course John Michael wanted to play with his stroller instead of playing at the park!  Ever notice how little boys love anything with wheels that they can push?!

Lately John Michael has been very into books, which I am thrilled about!  For the longest time I was so afraid he hated books because he would never let us read to him or if we started we would only get one page in!  I'm so happy he brings me books all day long.

Lately he comes around the corner from his room holding out his book and he wants to sit in my lap and read it.  I love it!  We go through this quite a few times a day!  Notice his Alabama book!  It's one of his favorites and we're making sure of it!

"Mama, read my book!"

Lately, John Michael likes to help us outside with the garden.  By help, I mean he sits in his little red car and pretends to drive because naturally, he loves the wheel and horn!

He also discovered the hose pipe and he loves to turn the faucet...because it's round.  Are you catching on yet?!

Lately we headed to the Farmer's Market and John Michael got to watch a banjo player and he also found a young guitar player that he loved!  We left him put a dollar bill in his guitar case because he loved to listen to him!

We also shared a shaved ice and John Michael really liked it!  He appears to like anything sweet!

We also watched a juggler and John Michael was very interested in him.  He actually sat and watched him for quite a while!

I hope y'all have a great week.  I'm trying to figure out some fun things for us to do this week.  Hopefully I can come up with stuff!

Show Us Your Wedding Dress!

Today I'm joining Kelly's Korner blog tour of wedding dresses.  I loved our wedding so much and I will take advantage of any opportunity to show off our pictures!

Oh, how I loved my wedding dress!  I didn't even want to try it on, but I did and I knew it was just right for me!  I loved the details and the little bow across the middle.  I bought it right off the rack and never looked back.

I used my mother's veil in conjunction with another veil for the ceremony and the veil matched the dress perfectly!  We took bridal portraits in Tuscaloosa at the University Club.  It's an old antebellum house and it was perfect for portraits!  It was also July and HOT!

I would pick my dress again and again!  I loved the way I felt in it and Jordan loved it as well!  If I do say so myself, it is beautiful!

And here we are on our wedding day.  I wish I could post all the pictures, but I'll just post a few!

It's Like Christmas!

It's like an early Christmas present for ME, a Christmas in July of sorts!  That's right, TLC just started a new season of Toddlers and Tiaras!  I'm so excited I can hardly wait to start up my DVR when I have some alone time!

I just can't help myself when it comes to the fake-tanning, false teeth, fake eyelashes, and boat-load of money these people spend on these pageants.  I mean, really, $800 on a bathing suit that will be worn for 2 minutes?  It's like watching a car wreck...you know you shouldn't be watching, but you just can't help it!

So, thank you TLC for making my summer a little sweeter as I watch these tiny beauties sass their mamas and win some cold hard cash...oh yeah, and crowns.  Set your DVR for Tuesdays at 9!

Random Wednesday

Because we came home early from our vacation in AL I was able to go to Caryn's baby shower at church on Sunday!  I loved the theme; it was so cute with pink, green, black, and zebra!  The food was good and everybody had a great time.  Caryn got a lot of cute baby girl stuff and it was fun to see everybody since I had been gone for over 2 weeks!

Here's the mama-to-be with the table o' food!

Jessica made the cutest diaper cake!  It looked so cute as our centerpiece.

And of course, Robin made her precious sugar cookies!

Table full of yum!

So many presents to open!

And on a completely random note, I have a few pictures of John Michael walking around the house carrying his huge Coke piggy bank.  I about died a few weeks ago when he came walking into the den with it!  He cracks us up on a daily basis.
