YUM!

Gymboree was fantastic and SO much fun!  I'm excited to try the music class on Wednesday.  I'm not excited about the price but we'll do it for about a month or so (at least) to get us through winter!  It was fun and we had a great time!

Verse O' the Day:

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

I knew that JM would LOVE Gymboree. He is so curious and loves to be in the middle of all that action. I love you for taking the time to make all of JM's food from scratch. No additives...no perservatives for our little man!! At least not until he can eat his first Kid's Meal !! I was searching through the freezer for something to cook and found a baggie of his frozen sweet potato cubes. Maybe I'll make Gamps a sweet potato casserole....haha. Thanks again for the sweet birthday cards, especially the one with JM's handprint on it I've already put it in my "treasure" drawer!

I hope that Grams makes the sweet potato casserole tonight. It's one of my favorites. Give Mighty Mouse a big hug for me.

Hi Mary Avery! I went to school with Ray and Judd. I got to visit with your mom and Ray at Ellen's funeral. Your mother and I were talking and she mentioned a friend of yours having a baby...and low and behold, I realized she was talking about Harper. I have just recently found Kelly's blog and have prayed for Harper some. It's so awesome to see God working!

It's nice to catch up with you. Congratulations on your beautiful family!

So to comment about the food and eczema... I am not sure if I should post the reply on my blog under your comment or if I should come back here... But, here I am...

Our experience with eczema started when Libby was 2 1/2 yrs. just at the same time we began potty training. This is significant b/c we also began giving her fruit snacks for the first time as rewards for going potty. Soon, she began having patches of dry skin on various parts of her legs or arms...which we thought were ring worms b/c she had already had one before. After things didn't clear up in a week or so, we took her to the doc and got the diagnoses of eczema. I really could not accept that she just all of the sudden developed it. After about 6 months, we began to put the pieces together after thinking about what we were doing differently to her when she started getting it...meaning, what life/diet changes did we make at 2 1/2 years? Somehow, we came across the thought of food dye...and through google read some info regarding food dye and eczema. We were also noticing that any time we were giving her medicine with dye, the spots seemed more irritated. Hers is very mild these days, but still bothers her when she gets dye in her system. It is noticable within a couple of days of her ingesting it. She is 6.

Our 2 yr old Clara had a HORRIBLE skin rash this summer. It lasted for weeks, and she looked like a bumpy pickle! It was hard trying to convince people that she didn't have measels or something. The doctor said it was a form of eczema. Again, I started trying to figure out what we had recently changed. (The doctor also asked that we start using dye and perfume free detergents and soaps until she cleared up.) She was about 21 months at the time, and we had recently begun giving her cereal bars like Nutri-grain to eat. We had been using the apple cinnamon flavor b/c it didn't have dye in it, which we knew was better for Libby. After buying a large box of mixed flavors at Sam's, Clara would eat the strawberry and blueberry flavors b/c Libby didn't eat those. We didn't actually realize there was Red #40 in them. (Red #40 is the primary one we stay away from.) Needless to say, it was all at the same time that Clara broke out. Once we stopped feeding them to her, she cleared up very quickly, but we're still not 100% sure about Clara b/c we changed several variables at once. We still use dye and perfume free detergents as well as dye free soaps/shampoos. We do limit food dye, but our kids do get their hands on somethings with dye.

Woo! That was more than a comment!! Hope that you can figure out some things that will work for you guys. I just hate to rely heavily on medicine and would rather eliminate the cause if possible.
