Hi-Ho Cheerio!

What little guy is starting to experiment with Cheerios, but doesn't really like them or know what to do with them....AND has an overly concerned Mama who's afraid he'll choke on 'em?????!!

I had no idea it was Friday.  Trying to unpack, get back in the groove of things, and being sick put me way behind!  This weekend we are goin' to be REAL fancy!  We're going to Fayetteville.  It's a long story, but picture new mom+colicky baby+30 ride from home+unfortunate poo accident in Target that grossed out some poor college girls+tears and you'll understand why we haven't been back to Fayetteville in quite some time!  I'm sure it was an excellent form of birth control for those girls.

Anyway, we're going to my absolute most favorite jewerly store to get my wedding rings cleaned, possibly Rick's Bakery (I shouldn't), and Target for some baby storage shelves for all of our new toys!  By the way, I have recently discovered Rick's Bakery and it is amazing.  Why hasn't that place been on Food Network and why did it take me so long to discover it?!!

Have a happy weekend!

8 Months, Wow!

John Michael is 8 months old today!  I can't believe it.  I always say that, but I really can't believe that it's passing so quickly.  I'm liking this stage where he's funny and sweet and not crawling yet!  We had playgroup this afternoon, which we were about an hour late for because JM just kept sleeping and sleeping!  We also hit up Wal-Greens for some coupon-register reward madness!  I got some pretty good stuff at some great prices!  Yay for $0.99 Fructis shampoo!

An Organized Mess

We have decided that 2009 will be the Year of Organization.  Why, you might ask???  Well, when we moved into our lovely new house I was close to 9 months pregnant.  In hindsight, not such a great idea to move while you're that pregnant.  We had help from my family first and then the movers came and did the rest!  That being said, things just had to put wherever because I was not physically able to unpack and organize things because of my huge stomach and my siatic nerve pain down my back that prevented me from walking or standing.

I, very naively, thought that I could just unpack and organize while my precious newborn slept the day away.  I would of course have make-up on and have my hair done while I unpacked boxes and organized my lovely new house.  Babies sleep up to 20 hours a day, right?  I had no idea what was in store for us with our precious newborn.

Bless his heart.  He wasn't all bad but Lord, that child cried for about 14 weeks.  I was traumatized, he was traumatized and it was WAY hard all through the summer.  Anyway, that's a story for another post.  Telling this story leads me to this post about organizing.  I had NO time to organize and unpack boxes like I would have liked.  I feel like things have just now slowed down enough that I can start organizing things and working on our house.  For pete's sake, the child's just now taking one hour naps!

We have very lofty goals for our home and we are hoping to work on them throughout the year.  I would love to say that I'm going to decorate every single room in the house, but I know that it's going to be room-by-room basis.  It may take quite some time ( & money) to get everything how we would like it.

Here are a few of our goals for 2009:

Organize Pantry - it NEVER got organized and it's a mess with nothing in a proper place.

Organize Laundry Room - possibly paint it yellow with cute blue accents!

Paint JM's bathroom and hang cute shower curtain and find cute accessories

Visit tanning bed more often (that one's for me because I am MO KINDA white)

Organize garage and go through boxes

Decorate guest bedroom and bathroom

Organize office

Learn to cook more with a slow cooker

Oh yeah....and lose 40 pounds.

And to close, a super cute picture of John Michael so that you won't think that he was such a bad, colicky baby.  If that's what I had to go through to get this, then it was well, well worth it.  We couldn't be any luckier!

Hmmm..Can't Think of a Title!

Well, I have come out of the foggy haze of nausiousness and tummy troubles that has been my life for around 24 hours.  I'm so glad that I didn't have a really, really bad stomach bug this year.  The stomach bug that I had this time last year (while around 24 weeks pregnant) was off the charts horrendous.  All I can remember is being passed out on the bathroom floor with a pillow.  Anyway, it was only a very small one this time, but ugh!  I've discovered that it's really hard to be a mom and be sick; especially with something like the stomach bug.  Of course, I couldn't have been sick while we were home for two whole weeks.  It would have been lovely to have a grandma to pass JM off to!  Props to my sweet friend, Jessica from down the street, who brought me some Imodium!  What a lifesaver!

Sticking that tongue out, as usual!
Sticking that tongue out, as usual!

I've not only battled being nauseated but I've battled guilt all day as I just had to put doodlebug in front of cartoons ALL day long.  I feel so bad doing that.  It downright makes me feel like a bad mom.  He played so well all day while I layed on the couch and narrated the cartoons so that at least his little brain was picking up on words like yellow, dog, giraffe, baby, etc!
So ready to crawl!
So ready to crawl!

On top of him being a good little boy today, last night he only woke up once and slept until 6 and then from 6-9 with me!  Last night I was praying that he would not wake up all night long because I just did not have it in me to get up along with being so sick!  Very much an answered prayer!  Another answered prayer is my wonderful husband who took such wonderful care of me last night.  Not only that, he came home a little early from work so that I could lay down for a little bit and he and John Michael could have some quality time together.  After I woke up from my little nap I started feeling much better and not really as nauseous.  I know that I will be much better by tomorrow!  We're happy to be back home!

What a long strange trip...

Quick update, I'll elaborate more tomorrow IF and WHEN we ever make it home.  We are in a hotel somewhere along I-40 on our way back home to NWA.   I've smacked my own head with the car door leaving a minor lump, Jordan sliced open his finger and blood started flying everywhere while he was trying to move a bed in this crazy hotel room.  Jackson is barking non-stop and growling at the hotel door and he, of course, pooped immediately upon entering the room, all the while I'm trying to nurse a baby to sleep who is crying and performing circus-like acts of rolling around the bed and trying to crawl around while wanting to nurse to sleep.  We have nothing to drink (we resorted to trying to dig out John Michael's PediaLyte with no luck) and to top it all of, we don't have any toothpaste.  YUM!  I'm scared to drink the water out of the tap.  Are we being too Monkish?

We have all of our bags packed and ready by the door so that we can get up as soon as possible in the morning and get outta here!!!  Here's a hint as to how bad it is:  Jordan is sleeping beside John Michael in the bed with his clothes and shoes still on.  We wanna go home!  Now, I'm off to try and find a place to sleep in this little bed with Jackson at our feet and John Michael between the two of us.  The only saving grace for me tonight...Baymont Inn and Suites has internet access.  Ah, how wonderful!  Wish us good sleep and happy travels.  The holidays: Blarg!
